The best part of being a band is getting to share a name. Yeah for some people naming a band is the best part. For others the name doesn’t mean jack, its just a way to catch attention. Yet, what is the point of a name except to represent what the “band” is all about. A band is supposed to share in that meaning. So what does UnNamed Servant mean you ask? Actually, that’s something the band has made somewhat of a pre-performance ritual. Picture four guys huddled in a circle backstage, in a bathroom, or huddled behind a curtain, each taking a turn while looking each other in the eyes and saying, “UnNamed Servant means ______”. Yeah I know its sounds pretty serious…but that’s just the kind of band we are. Here are some highlight answers over the years – “play like its the last time, skill, passion, nothing to lose, a message, …I suppose you could fill in the blank with lots of things but it doesn’t really matter if we the band doesn’t live up to meaning of our name. So like I said in the beginning, the hardest part of being a band is sharing a name!

Howdy ya’ll. That’s a traditional southern greeting. We are a very cross-cultural band. We are also on a mission … to finish this new album! We’ll be in and out of the studio for the next little while finishing up this monster. Keep up to date with show info, band chit-chat, and stuff on our twitter (www.twitter.com/unnamedservant) or leave us some comments on our facebook (www.facebook.com/pages/UnNamed-Servant/25915768923).

While the guys and I (Rob) take some time to work on the next record we often get to tellin’ “STORIES FROM THE ROAD” (in big echo movie announcer voice). Its difficult to pick out a single story but one that sticks out in my mind was the time we had to sleep on sidewalk pavement at a rest stop in the middle of night in Wisconsin (wavy dream lines flashback)
We were on a way back from our midwest OOFDA tour and we were exhausted! Our driver must have been too because he didn’t see the ENORMOUS pothole that he hit full force. It was 3 am so I suspect his eyes weren’t wide open if you know what I am sayin’. Especially considering he had already missed an exit and put us on an hour detour.
When we pulled off the highway the back right tire of our trailer was ripped to shreds it the debris tore our trailer wheel fender clean off as well. We all just stood in awe looking at the destruction, as we slowly realized how in the middle of nowhere we were – no lights, no cars, no people. Just the orange glow of rest stop lights and not a tire shop for miles.
So what about the spare Rob? Ya I was asking the same question. We didn’t have one. Someone forgot to double check that little detail. I might have been me but that’s not important right now…What is important is that we were 5 guys in a 15 passenger, with a tireless trailer at 3 am in the middle of nowheresville Wisconsin with nothing to do but wait til a mechanic shop might open in the morning.
No problem right? Sleep in the van the common sense choice. Well it gets hot on a summer’s night in a van with 4 guys breathing and expelling who knows what else. So we opted for the sidewalk pavement at the rest stop (the clearly more memorable choice). When morning came we were quite a site, bedhead, gravel on the side of our face, shoeless …You wouldn’t think you could get bed head sleeping on the ground but you can.
Amazingly without even calling a tire shop a really old guy in a truck woke us up off the ground and volunteered to fix our tire. We looked so pitiful he actually gave us the tire for free. When we asked where his shop was he just pointed in a random direction and quickly changed the subject. I think he was an angel because he was really generous but he also smoked and cursed to try and hide his true angel identity. I guess time will tell.
By the way that trailer was stolen years later with 1,000’s of dollars of our gear. If you see a white 2 wheel straight axel trailer with the right fender blown off send us an email. Welp, until next time I hope you enjoyed STORIES FROM THE ROAD

Here’s a story of how the lyrics from “Feel It” hit home for somebody:
“I had some of your lyrics slap me right in the face today when I visited a local mens homeless shelter to donate some things. I have always wanted to get involved with helping people but “never had the time” or “never had a babysitter” or for whatever “excuse” I had at the time for not doing it. And up until today, that [making excuses] has worked for me. But today, I could feel it. Today, I could taste it. And now, I don’t have a choice but to give my life!!! There is so much need just in my area and I cannot be blind to it anymore. I just wanted to say thank you for the words you put out there. They are being heard and it may take some time for it to sink in, like it did for me, but your words are such truth and they have changed my heart for the better!!”
“Feel It” is a track off The Anthem, UnNamed Servant’s 3rd studio album.

Riding the summer buzz from their Save The World EP, UnNamed Servant is setting their sights on their 4th full-lenght record. While being an indie band might have its financial drawbacks, it has also freed Gregg, Paul, Skylar, and Rob to creating music that is sincere and genuine. Deciding to remain a self-produced, indie band for over 8 years has also afforded US the luxury of no-limits to their lyrical content. Over the years they have developed a reputation of having a fiery message and there has been no sign of backing down to their convictions to represent the oppressed and voiceless around the world. This 4th record promises to be nothing less than the bands best!
Candid photo and video clips from the sessions will be making their way to our media page, facebook, and twitter. See you there!

After a hot summer of touring in 115 degree heat of India, performing a dozen shows in 100% humidity in the Philippines, plowing the farm with ROCK for a festival in Iowa, and laying down the chattahoochee in Chattanooga, US has a month off from performing but it’s not a vacation. Gregg is leading a 22 college students to serve the poor in E. Africa. Rob is teaching primary health care seminars on injections and malaria for future development workers. Paul is training aspiring young rhythm-addicts on the art of world beats. Skylar is using his genius to fix a non-profit organizations entire network and info systems. We are keeping busy and physically training to hit the stage again soon. On a recording note the band is focusing on Sept as release of their full length record Invitation to Exile. To everyone who we met and united with this summer, we love you and can’t wait til see you again.
