Tullahoma Likes US

Jan 25, 2009 by rmunoz in The Word, Uncategorized

Tullahoma … More like Rockahoma! The whole town came out to the high school gym to rock with US (that work as a pronoun and an abbreviation for UnNamed Servant…cool huh?) 12 songs set The Anthem, Words That Liberate, No One Like You, Crush, Love, Dare You To Move, Everyone Wants To Be Loved, Anything, Bring me 2 the Floor, Thinkin’ We went about 1 hour 45 min. Some fans reported being rocked so hard that were blessed by sweat from the head slashing of bassist Robert Munoz. Other fans reported swooning and blushing as a result of Mc’G Dizzle’s face melting guitar solos. The whole gig was televised for Tullahoma TV. So if your pick up that station let us know what you think. Thanks to all our new friends in Tullahoma. Especially, Joel, Matt from Blood Water Mission, and Debbie who took such good care of US and our families. YOU GUYS ROCK’D OUR EVERYTHING OFF. Way to go!

Life of Winter

Nov 25, 2008 by rmunoz in The Word, Uncategorized

“The dead of winter”, as they say, is only dead to those who forget we are made to be evergreen!

US is not slowing down these days as we are getting ready for some big changes. After a record setting month for music and merchandise sales it looks like US’s new album, ANTHEM, is paving the way for a big new year.

“Ya, but I hows about the next album?!” Yes I can read your mind. As of now the band is in between albums as their record company prepares for its next big move. This means the band is now exiting their current recording and rehearsal space they have been using for 3 years. Nyumba studio was a kitchen of sorts for the band to create the music for Anthem and many worship tunes the band has made popular over the years.

SLAM records, the bands independently run record company, has its eye on a fixer upper just on the outside of Nashville. The new space will provide for US as well an opportunity to recruit a few of the band’s favorite artists and musicians into the this movement to change the world! Speaking of Anthem…

Anthem and band merchandise will be sold from our new band store on this site. 100% of proceeds go directly to mission efforts to serve the poor and underprivileged. The funds raised in the past several years have built literacy training centers in Africa, ran AIDS awareness programs, fed the poor, and numerous other charitable work.

I know a lot of you US fans are into helping the needy this dark world too. So keep spreading the word about it, and be a light where ever you are. The winter is the perfect time to be life when everything else is dying!

Coffee Attic

Nov 09, 2008 by rmunoz in The Word, Uncategorized

We had tons of friends show up to the coffee attic in Iowa Falls. It was a packed house! The band spent 2 hours playing acoustic versions of their music and sharing stories from our life. Afterwards we hung out with some people who came as far as 2 hours away. McDonalds is the only thing open in Iowa Falls after 11, so we treated everybody to some tasty Mc food and had a good time.

Share the Music!

Dear Fans of US,

I got a challenge for you. Unlike any other band I know, every dime that comes in for US music goes directly to helping the poor (EVEN ITUNES, RHAPSODY DOWNLOADS!). Now don’t think I am gonna say, “Buy our Music, because You’ll be helping the poor!” No. That is not my challenge.

My challenge is this – LET SOMEONE YOU LOVE HEAR THE MUSIC. If you love an unnamed servant song share it. Get the message out there. Let your mom hear,  your dad, friend, teacher, son, daughter, brother, sister….whomever!

If they like it, tell em the message matches the musicians and if they buy the music, they will be giving to poor. Whether you buy the music or not God’s work will continue, but it cant continue without people who are willing to surrender their lives to his work.

So if you are fan, become a friend of the band by joining us in our mission. Spread the message. Roll down the window. Turn up the volume. Email an mp3. Post it to your blogy thing. Share the Music!

Bands and Image

Sep 02, 2008 by rmunoz in The Word, Uncategorized

Bands and Image! What’s the deal. Seems like today all you got to do is fit the image and all of sudden your music has somehow been validated. It’s like people want their music to look better than it sounds. That’s just funny.

Now don’t get me wrong. If you are gonna jump on stage and play a revolutionary rock show to change the world you’d better dress the part! But if your revolution stops after your encore you can go home and image whatever you want.

I loved watching an old show called “behind the music” on VH1. They would go to these huge music star’s homes and follow em around in their “normal” lives. The big music stars are always dressed down in sweats and normal “walmart” ish clothes. It was always so interesting to see these BIG STARS living and using the restroom just like normal people.

So whats the big deal? People want to see something real. If the image doesnt match the real person its a fake, fabrication, false, foolish!

As a band if we are anything, we are committed. We are committed to being heralds of a message of a loving God and his desire for a new world to the people that need to hear it. Wearing that uniform isn’t easy but its an image worth having. God help us represent with our lives.

The Anthem is Complete!

Jun 30, 2008 by rmunoz in The Word, Uncategorized

The Anthem, our 3rd studio album, is finally mixed & mastered and ready for print. It should be available on iTunes and www.independentbands.com by the end of July.
As a band G, Paul, and I are really happy about the quality and content of the album. It wasn’t easy to sing the lyrics to these songs over and over again. At times it was heart-wrenching and other times we were full of joy about the message we were putting together.

Anthem was our attempt to represent those whom we have been trying to give a voice in the poorest and most silent of places. Our Anthem has become the story of their lives instead of our own. When the most forgotten people get their story told in these songs we find ourselves face to face with the suffering and pain. At the same time we hold a liberating message for those suffering the injustice. Listening to this albim forces you to sit in this tension.

Even now Gregg is ministering to women who are trapped in a life of prostitution and sex slavery. Paul and I (Rob) are back in Nashville praying for him to bring a message of forgiveness to these women that can’t be limited to a song. If the power behind our message is limited to 5 min tracks wrapped in plastic, we haven’t got what it takes to save anybody. If God is for us though…who can be against us!
